After returning from the mountains (seen here) the weekend before Christmas we stopped in Riverside, CA to visit with my boyfriend's aunt. From my previous experience in Riverside I didn't think it was the greatest place.... However the neighborhood she lives in is filled with craftsmen homes with grand entrances, stone archways, and gardens overflowing with the most beautiful flowers.
I found myself transported to another era; exploring all the nooks and uncovering hidden gems along the way. We found ourselves in a secret garden, with vines dripping down, the scent of wet earth below our feet, and flower buds anticipating the arrival of spring. It was a truly magical scene.
Winter in Cali has been quite cold this year, and this day was no exception. The air was crisp, and the wind felt arctic. So I bundled in my warmest sweater, scarf, and beanie. I love this wool grandpa sweater that I picked up in Japan because it keeps me super warm, and I just enjoy the feeling of being all bundled up. With this look I kept to neutral hues, but accented with my favorite freezing cold weather purple scarf. For me when I travel often warmth and comfort supersedes all, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Wow, these photos are gorgeous. I don't live too far from Riverside (I'm in Anaheim when I'm not away at school), but I didn't realize it was this pretty, I'm shocked! As for your outfit, this scarf is just lovely!
ReplyDeleteAwe thanks! I know I was super surprised to find such a beautiful neighborhood in Riverside. I guess it is just one of those hidden gems. =)
