Over the weekend my boyfriend, his parents, and I all took a much needed vacation and retreated to the mountains. My boyfriend's family has a cabin in Green Valley Lake (more posts to come), which is close to Big Bear. Along the way to the cabin we stopped in Lake Arrowhead to explore the shops, and enjoy the beautiful winter day.

Let me say that it was freeeezing, I'm not accustomed to such bone chilling conditions! Luckily I was prepared and wore tights under my jeans, which helped keep my legs nice and warm. I recently purchased this super warm and cozy sweater from H&M. I love that is reminiscent of a holiday sweater, but without the cheesy/ugly factor. It worked perfectly with my purple down jacket from UNIQLO that I picked up in Tokyo. Then I finished my look with my favorite faux fur lined boots, and winter white beanie. I just love having the opportunity to dress for the cold because it rarely happens since I live in San Diego.

Finally, I kept my look simple because I already way over pack for any situation, and I wanted pieces that would keep me warm and would interchange with the other clothes I brought. I always believe that you can be fashionable and practical at the same time.
